Welcome!Hi, I'm Mr. Ryan Sweeney. I'm excited to be your English teacher. I (will) have a B.A. in English Literature as well as a Single Subject Teaching credential in English/Language Arts from California State University, Fullerton. The reason I love teaching English is because of the great capacity that literature and language offer for insight into both the discovery of diverse human perspectives as well as for.reflective revelations for the individual. I look forward to discovering some of the vast wonders of human experience with you all through literature and language.

About this course
English 9: In this course we will be working on writing a autobiographical narrative, a literary analysis, and a research paper. While these may sound daunting to you now, you will be provided with support from your classmates, interactive technologies, the textbook, and me. Throughout the year we will be reading poems, plays, short stories, informational and research articles, a short novel, and a longer novel. The reading selection aims to offer diverse historical and social perspectives. You are highly encouraged to meet these with your own life experiences and background, but my class is a safe space of respect for all peoples, even as some of the values and mores we explore may conflict with others. Keep your books open. Keep your minds open. Most importantly, however, keep your heart open and this course will become more than a grade on your report card.
